Ok so just doing some nightly news surfing and i came across a fucking crazy special report setup on Sarah Palin and Joe Biden. Honestly, see for yourself how fucking ridiculous that is. I don't even know where to start.. how about with one of the headlines. "Joe Biden: Political Survivor". Really?? Ok let's look at what they called his Career and Personal Highlights "Sen Joe Biden has proved himself a surivor many times, suffering the deaths of his young wife and daughter," POLITICAL SURVIVOR MEANS SURVIVING THE DEATH OF YOUR WIFE AND DAUGHTER?? how fucking tasteless. then next, "under going brain surgery" ok.. i guess that fits in the context of him being a survivor, though i still don't see the political connection... which brings us to lastly, "and being forced out of the 1988 presidential race for admitted plagiarism." Wow. I'm just shocked that any biased news company would call those 3 things Joe Biden's "career and personal highlights". What tactless and biased reporting again on the part of CNN. I also love the little bullet notes at top. WAY TO LEAVE OUT THE FACT THAT ONE OF HIS SONS WHO SURVIVED THAT VERY CAR CRASH YOU MENTION IS LEAVING FOR IRAQ THE FOLLOWING MONTH. I also like how the first bullet they have is that Joe Biden stuttered as a child. Very artful. An artful crock of shit. Again, this wouldn't be so ridiculous if Sarah Palin didn't have an identical page setup that basically kisses her ass and touches on zero of the topics that touch on the election. It's like the McCain camp doctrine that this election will be decided on character and not on the issues is being orchestrated hand in hand with a couple schmuck's over at CNN, probably from folks like Glenn Beck. Oh yeah, just got an idea for a follow up post.

David Plouffe's $10 Million Dollar Donation Letter

Usually i don't read these, but i had just read this Yahoo! News piece that says Sarah Palin's speech on Wednesday had raised over $10 million dollars for Obama as of today, Thursday, the day after. . In any event, i decided to read one of the donation emails and figured i'd share this in case nobody reads them like me. If anyone hasn't watched Sarah Palin's speech, or at least some of it, you should do that too. It's pretty funny when crowds start heavily cheering points that seem pretty unapplausable, if that's even a word. I mean i guess it's not really fair because I didn't have this blog when the Democratic convention started. That had some fucking hilarious moments.. perhaps a follow up post with a Democratic Convention recap is in line. anyway, read David Plouffe's donation email that is in response to what was said:

PALIN: "I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending ... and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress 'thanks but no thanks' for that Bridge to Nowhere."

THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million. In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport, that opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a "bridge to nowhere."

PALIN: "There is much to like and admire about our opponent. But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform — not even in the state senate."

THE FACTS: Compared to McCain and his two decades in the Senate, Obama does have a more meager record. But he has worked with Republicans to pass legislation that expanded efforts to intercept illegal shipments of weapons of mass destruction and to help destroy conventional weapons stockpiles. The legislation became law last year. To demean that accomplishment would be to also demean the work of Republican Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, a respected foreign policy voice in the Senate. In Illinois, he was the leader on two big, contentious measures in Illinois: studying racial profiling by police and requiring recordings of interrogations in potential death penalty cases. He also successfully co-sponsored major ethics reform legislation.

PALIN: "The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes, raise payroll taxes, raise investment income taxes, raise the death tax, raise business taxes, and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars."

THE FACTS: The Tax Policy Center, a think tank run jointly by the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, concluded that Obama's plan would increase after-tax income for middle-income taxpayers by about 5 percent by 2012, or nearly $2,200 annually. McCain's plan, which cuts taxes across all income levels, would raise after tax-income for middle-income taxpayers by 3 percent, the center concluded.

Obama would provide $80 billion in tax breaks, mainly for poor workers and the elderly, including tripling the Earned Income Tax Credit for minimum-wage workers and higher credits for larger families.

He also would raise income taxes, capital gains and dividend taxes on the wealthiest. He would raise payroll taxes on taxpayers with incomes above $250,000, and he would raise corporate taxes. Small businesses that make more than $250,000 a year would see taxes rise.

MCCAIN: "She's been governor of our largest state, in charge of 20 percent of America's energy supply ... She's responsible for 20 percent of the nation's energy supply. I'm entertained by the comparison and I hope we can keep making that comparison that running a political campaign is somehow comparable to being the executive of the largest state in America," he said in an interview with ABC News' Charles Gibson.

THE FACTS: McCain's phrasing exaggerates both claims. Palin is governor of a state that ranks second nationally in crude oil production, but she's no more "responsible" for that resource than President Bush was when he was governor of Texas, another oil-producing state. In fact, her primary power is the ability to tax oil, which she did in concert with the Alaska Legislature. And where Alaska is the largest state in America, McCain could as easily have called it the 47th largest state — by population.

MCCAIN: "She's the commander of the Alaska National Guard. ... She has been in charge, and she has had national security as one of her primary responsibilities," he said on ABC.

THE FACTS: While governors are in charge of their state guard units, that authority ends whenever those units are called to actual military service. When guard units are deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, for example, they assume those duties under "federal status," which means they report to the Defense Department, not their governors. Alaska's national guard units have a total of about 4,200 personnel, among the smallest of state guard organizations.

FORMER ARKANSAS GOV. MIKE HUCKABEE: Palin "got more votes running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska than Joe Biden got running for president of the United States."

THE FACTS: A whopper. Palin got 616 votes in the 1996 mayor's election, and got 909 in her 1999 re-election race, for a total of 1,525. Biden dropped out of the race after the Iowa caucuses, but he still got 76,165 votes in 23 states and the District of Columbia where he was on the ballot during the 2008 presidential primaries.

Mitt Romney Drinks Ridiculous Juice

Gathered from this CNN.com article, Mitt Romney on a speech delivered to the RNC regarding cutting taxes and ending big government spending is paraphrased as such

"Throw out the big-government liberals and elect John McCain," Romney said. "We need change, all right: change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington."

This statement is so ridiculous because Republican spending has fucked us into a whole so fucking deep in the ground. really. then all of a sudden Mitt Romney says in order to cut down excessive "big-government" spending, we need to keep with the "conservative" system we have in place by electing another Republican President? ridiculous i say. Mitt Romney, you are fucking garbarrassing. Electing a Republic will NOT fix anything. I used to think John McCain was cool. But all he does NOW is tow a fucking line. Sure Barack Obama tows his own line just as hard, and therefor every major Democrat tows that same line. and like their respective Democratic counterparts, every major Republican tows the same line and throws the same punches as everyone else. The PROBLEM here is John McCain's line isn't even his own. No, i'm not talking about his stupid ass names like 'the original maverick' and 'the straight-talk express', which is some bullshit, i'm talking about his actual positions. positions on the war, positions on taxes, the way his campaign is run and the way he attacks his opponents. Now that he's the Republican presidential nominee, he's been forced to buckle to a small minority of power holders who have more regard and hold more sway than he could ever hope to, even if he was elected President.

just read this yahoo news story. The world's tallest building, the Burj Dubai, re-set the world record for highest man-made structure again, at a whopping height of 2,257 feet. In 2004, it surpassed the 'Taipei 101' for world's tallest building, and in April of this year, it surpassed the KVLY-TV mast in the good ol' US of A to be the world's tallest man-made structure. Projected completion date: September, 2009. Final Height: a closely guarded secret, but estimated to be at 2,953 ft (900 metres). I think the best part about this is that it takes place within the Arab Emirate of Dubai in Dubai City. I'd like to see this place...

According to CNN, Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul was told he could pick up his pass for the Republic National Convention 'at the gate' and he was told he could not bring any guests. Talk about respecting your fellow congressman. I guess they're not a fan of his "Campaign For Liberty," his new political action group aimed at retooling the views, focus and goals of the Republican Party. Like they say, if you're not with them, you're against them..

Republic VP Contender Sarah Pallin

Maury Povich of TV's Maury declares that yes indeed, the baby is Governor Sarah Pallin's. To those not familiar with the story, the newest member to Pallin's family Trig, born this year, is rumored to actually belong to their 17 year old daughter, Bristol. That's some spicy shit. in fact that's so spicy that that is actually garbage and i don't buy it for a second. there is no way that these people would be so dumb to try and do a cover up like this. there's no way they could pull it off. they aren't THAT stupid.. right? Anyway, here is some hearsay that i pulled off of some random forum when i googled 'Sarah Pallin baby':

On March 5th, 2008 Alaska’s Republican Governor, Sarah Palin, announced to the media that she was 7 months pregnant with her 5th child. She is currently 44.

The controversy arises from two sources: First, Palin does not appear preganant in any recent photographs. The announcement came as quite a shock to people who had worked closely with her, and have been quoted as saying that she did not appear pregnant whatsoever during the prior 7 months.

Second, Palin’s daughter Bristol is 16 and attends an Anchorage high school. Students who have attended class with her report that she has been out of school for months, claiming a prolonged case of mono.

Apparently, this rumor has made the rounds in the upper echelon of the Alaska legislature, and is a closely guarded secret. As far as I know, this rumor has not been discussed by any media outlets, in Alaska or otherwise.

is it just me or is it kind of gross and inappropriate the way that CNN boosts their ratings by whoring out a disaster. Wolf Blitzer sitting in his 'situation room' getting the scoop on the ground from a couple of doofus's fighting the wind, giving a sensational report on the situation on the ground, Wolf assesses and recaps the situation, asking them to repeat the same thing they just said for clarification, it's fucking great. And all for what? Well let's just say it's not just about their compassion or even stoking their well defined ego's (honestly, who came up with the name Wolf Blitzer). Sure, i know it's not just CNN, but that's what i saw when i was flicking through channels so i'm gonna tag this one on them. it's completely mindless journalism is what it is. it's like this thing is happening so i'm gonna sit here and watch it happen and talk about it for the next 24-48 hours and i'm gonna get a bunch of shiny graphics with the words 'hurricane gustav' and put them all over the place and make this one of the biggest stories of the years even though it's only the beginning of hurricane season so the next one will be the new next biggest story. then kick back and wonder who the fuck the genius is that created hurricanes because they are a cash cow for my network if i whore it out right, anyone, anyone? oh yeah i love the .com coverage too, real sensational journalism folks
